When and How many hours before the chart is prepared and when the chart is prepared for morning trains.




For the trains starting between 12 pm(After Noon) to 12 am(Mid Night),chart preparation is done 4 to 6 hours before departure of train. 

For the trains starting between 12 am(Mid-Night) to 12 pm(After Noon),charts are prepared on the previous night around 8 to 9 pm.

MOSR Flags Off Santragachi-Chennai Superfast Ac Express and HOWRAH-AMTA EMU Local


Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways flagged off Santragachi-Chennai Bi-Weekly Fully Air Conditioned Superfast Express and o­ne pair Howrah-Amta EMU Local Trains at an impressive function held at Howrah Station, New Complex this morning (15/01/2014). Hon’ble MOSR also announced 3 additional pairs of EMU Local Trains between Santragachi-Panskura, Santragachi-Kharagpur and Santragachi-Uluberia which would run daily except Sundays & National Holidays with effect from 16/01/2014. He described the new trains as gifts to the people o­n the occasion of Makar Sankranti and Pongal. Shri Radhey Shyam, General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Shri Rajeev Bhargava, General Manager, Metro Railway and other senior officers of South Eastern and Eastern Railways attended the function.

Hon’ble MOSR, Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury while addressing the gathering said that the introduction of this fully air conditioned train would immensely benefit the passengers who intend to go to South India for treatment, educational purposes and for visiting tourist places. Shri Chowdhury also said that Howrah-Amta and Howrah-Khargpur Sections are densely populated and the new EMU local trains would ensure hassle free daily journey for the suburban commuters. Hon’ble MOSR stated that with the flagging off of the new trains, the budget commitments o­n the part of South Eastern Railway have been fulfilled except Hatia-YesvantpurExpress which would also be flagged off shortly. As far as the projects are concerned, Hon’ble Minister said that the works of Santragachi-Tikiapara fourth line and Girimaidan-Gokulpur Doubling have been completed. This apart, the works of other railway projects like Tamluk-Basulya Sutahata doubling and Panskura-Shyamchak-Kharagpur third line are in advanced stages. Shri Chowdhury also said that two escalators have been installed at Kharagpur Station for the benefit of the passengers.

Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, will lay foundation stone for the construction of Medak-Akkannapet New Rail Line at an official function to be held at Govt. Boys High School, Medak at 01:00 pm o­n 19th January, 2014 

 The 17.2 Km. long Medak-Akkannapet new railway line, which was sanctioned in Railway Budget of financial year 2012-13, will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 129.30 Cr. The cost of the project will be shared by Railways and the Govt. of AP equally (on 50: 50 basis).
The function will be held in the august presence of Shri C. Damodar  Raja Narasimha, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Higher Education & Technical Education, Govt. of A.P. The Guests of  Honour  include Hon’ble Ministers, Govt. of AP - Smt. D.K. Two Special Trains between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam


In order to clear extra rush of passengers, two Special Trains will be run between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam as per the following schedule:-
Train No. 08502 Secunderabad - Visakhapatnam Special Train will depart Secunderabad at 16 30 hrs o­n 18th January 2014 (Saturday) and arrive Visakhapatnam at 06 45 hrs o­n the next day.
In the opposite direction, Train No. 08501 Visakhapatnam  -  Secunderabad Special Trainwill depart Visakhapatnam at 19 05 hrs o­n 17th January, 2014 (Friday)and arrive Secunderabad at 07 50 hrs o­n the next day.

As announced in last Railway Budget for running of a bi-weekly AC Express train towards Chennai from Santragachhi (Kolkata), Ministry of Railways has decided to introduce Santragachhi-Chennai AC Express w.e.f. 15th January 2014 from Santragachhi.

22807 Santragachhi-Chennai Central bi-weekly AC Express will leave Santragachhi at 1900hrs o­n every Tuesday & Friday and will arrive at Chennai Central at 2245hrs o­n every Wednesday & Saturdays. In the return direction, 22808 Chennai Central-Santragachhi bi-weekly AC Express will leave Chennai Central at 0745hrs o­n every Thursday & Sunday and will arrive at Santragachhi at 1025hrs o­n every Friday & Monday.

This train has o­ne AC First Class, Four AC-2 tiers, Ten AC-3 tiers, Two Guard cum Generator Van and o­ne Pantry Car in its composition having stoppages at Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Samalkot, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, o­ngole, Nellore & Gudur beween Santragachhi & Chennai Central.

Northern Railway Sets New Benchmarks In Originating Loading And Notches Impressive Earnings During The F.Y. 2013-14


Surpassing the targets achieved during yesteryears and budgetary targets in originating revenue loading in the current financial year 2013-14, Northern Railway was able to achieve an impressive record of 40.1 MT, o­ne of the highest o­n Indian Railways. The originating freight loading of 40.1 MT achieved for the period April-December is not o­nly all time high in volumes i.e. 5.57 MT over 34.44 MT achieved last year but also indicates the highest growth rate of 16.17% over the previous year. The corresponding originating freight earnings recorded a growth of 25.87%. During the first three quarters, Northern Railway achieved Rs. 5431.95 crore as originating freight earnings against Rs. 4315.52 crore during the corresponding period of last year i.e. net growth of over o­ne thousand crore. The total originating earnings including Passenger, other Coaching and Sundry earnings during this period o­n Northern Railway have notched the highest ever originating earnings of Rs. 11844.68 crore during April-December this year as against Rs. 9846.50 crore last year resulting in a growth of 20.29%.

Jumbo block between Borivali and Bhayandar


A Jumbo block will be carried out from 10.35 hrs to 15.35 hrs o­n Sunday, 12th January, 2014 o­n UP & Down Local (i.e. slow) line between Borivali & Bhayandar for maintenance of track, signaling and overhead equipments.
During the block, all slow line trains will be worked o­n through lines (i.e. fast lines) between Borivali & Vasai Road.
All Vasai Road/Nallasopara and Virar Down local line trains will be worked o­n down through line (fast line) from Goregaon .
During the block period, all local trains terminating at and starting from Bhayandar will remain canceled.

Update on fire incident of Dehradun Express on 08/01/2014


WR has handed over the cheques of Rs. 5 lakh as ex-gratia payment each to the kins of the 5 passengers who lost their lives in the fire incident of Dehradun Express near Dahanu Road station o­n Mumbai–Surat Section yesterday. All the five bodies which have been identified have been handed over to their family members for their last rites.

Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS) will hold a Statutory Inquiry in Divisional office at Mumbai Central o­n 13th & 14th January, 2014. Any member of public, having knowledge relating to the incidence and any matter connected there with and desiring to give evidence may do so at the above place o­n date of inquiry or write to him. Meanwhile help of the State Forensic Dept. has been sought to collect the samples in order to help in the investigation of the incident.

Efforts are o­n to identify the remaining four bodies which have been handed over to the GRP. These bodies have been sent to J.J. Hospital for the DNA test to help in ascertaining their identity.

Efforts are o­n to contact 5 passengers could not be contacted so far. The details of these passengers as per reservation record are as under: Ms Sakina Arsiwala (57 yrs), Nal Bazar; Mr Jamir Ahmed (60 yrs), Jogeshwari (W); Mr Hakimuddin F.R. (63 yrs), Dhar (MP); Ms Zebunh (53 yrs), Dhar (MP).

SCR nets Rs. 62 Cr. from Ticketless / Irregular Travellers During April to December 2013


South Central Railway carried out a series of intensified special drives during the months of April-December, 2013 against ticketless/irregular travel over its jurisdiction involving Ticket Checking staff and Railway Protection Force personnel.  
      During the drives, 19.8 lakh cases were detected which include 5.7 lakh cases of Ticketless Travel, 7 lakh cases of Irregular Travel and 7.1 lakh cases of Un-booked luggage. An amount of Rs. 62.2 Cr. was realized towards penalty from these cases, which is 11 % higher when compared to that of last year.
The surprise checks were carried out by the Flying Squads of the Divisions and Head Quarters under the supervision of senior Railway officials. It helped to enhance the effectiveness of the ticket checking activities at various stations and in trains so as to curb the social menace of ticketless and irregular travel and also to arrest leakage of revenue. 
          Shri P. K. Srivastava, General Manager issued instructions to the officials concerned to step up these checks in the ensuing holidays / festive season in order to ensure a comfortable and secure travel to the bona- fide passengers.

Fortress Check Conducted at Secunderabad Railway Station against Ticketless / Irregular Travel


South Central Railway conducted a Fortress Check against ticketless and irregular travel at Secunderabad Railway station o­n 10thJanuary, 2014.  The Check was conducted under the direct supervision of Shri A.Bharat Bhushan, Chief Commercial Manager/SCR.
180 Ticket checking staff and 13 Railway Protection Force Personnel were involved in the check. During the fortress check, all the exit and entry points at Secunderabad Railway station were plugged. 113 trains including 58 Express Trains, 12 Passenger Trains and 43 MMTS Trains were checked.
A total of 2440 persons were apprehended, comprising of 1196 persons travelling without ticketless travel, 1050 persons travelling irregularly and 194 cases of un-booked luggage. A total of Rs. 10.32 Lakh was realised towards penalty from these persons.

110 special trains announced and around 40,000 additional berths generated - SCR geared up to handle passenger rush during this January

Intensified checks against touts, ticketless travelers and other unauthorized persons in Railway premises. 
 In view of the passenger rush due to Sabarimalai and Sankranti season during the month of January,2014, SCR has taken several steps to smoothly handle the passenger traffic. 
 A three - tier approach is being followed to make available as many berths/seats as possible to meet the demand. It  consists of  -

i) Operation of special trains:
            110 special trains have already been announced to be run in the month of January,2014.   67 Sabarimalai specials to/from Kerala will be operated this month.  In addition, 43 special trains will also be run  to take care of the Sankranti festival/holiday rush etc. during the current month. These include 36 special trains to/from twin cities (12 for Kakinada, 12 for Visakhapatnam,10 for Vijayawada and 2 for Gudur ) and 7 specials between Tirupati and Aurangabad.

ii) Generating additional berths/seats by temporary augmentation of trains:
            Based o­n an analysis of passenger traffic demand profile, SCR has augmented the composition of several trains with the addition of extra coaches o­n a temporary basis for the month of January. Around 40000 additional berths/seats have already been fed into the public reservation system (PRS) for this period.

iii) Attaching additional coaches o­n a day-to-day basis:
            The waiting list position in various classes of express trains o­n popular routes is being closely monitored by senior officials daily and extra coaches are being attached to trains with long waitlist within the resources.  It helps in clearing many of the waitlisted passengers o­n the travel day.
            Steps have been initiated to smoothly handle the rush of passengers at major stations in the ensuing festive period. Some of the measures taken in this direction at Secunderabad station include:  
·   Operation of additional ticket booking counters during peak hours to ease out queues. In addition, passengers can utilize the Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) also for getting platform/MMTS/un-reserved tickets.
·  Strengthening of enquiry counters by posting more number of commercial staff. Passengers can also meet their enquiry needs from the touch screen kiosks and GPS/GPRS based LED boards o­n platforms.
·   Deploying additional staff from RPF and commercial branches in station premises to assist and regulate the crowds whenever needed.
·   Deputing officers and senior supervisors o­n special duty to camp at the station to closely monitor the traffic flow and for appropriate immediate intervention.

Fortress Check Conducted at Kacheguda Railway Station against Ticketless / Irregular Travel


A total of 564 cases were apprehended, comprising of 417 cases of ticketless travel, 47cases of irregular travel, 97 cases of un-booked luggage and 3 cases of littering o­n railway premises.  A total of Rs. 1.70 Lakh was realised towards penalty from these cases.


 South Central Railway conducted Fortress Check against ticketless and irregular travel at Kacheguda Railway station o­n 8th January, 2014.  The Check was conducted under the direct supervision of Shri A.Bharat Bhushan, Chief Commercial Manager.

50 Squad Travelling Ticket Examiners  and 11 Railway Protection Force Personnel were involved in the check. During the fortress check, all the exit and entry points at Kacheguda Railway station were plugged. 94  trains including Express Trains, Passenger Trains and MMTS Trains were checked.

For the convenience of rail passengers, Northern Railways has decided to provide additional stoppage to the train no 14203/14204 Varanasi- Lucknow- Varanasi Intercity express at Suriawan station from 15.01.2014 o­n experimental basis for 6 months as per following programme:-

The 14203 Varanasi- Lucknow Intercity express train will arrive at Suriawan station at 05.20 p.m while in the return direction, the 14204 Lucknow- Varanasi Intercity express train will arrive at Suriawan station at 11.50 noon with o­ne minute stoppage in both the directions.

In order to cater to the extra rush of rail passengers and to enhance the passenger carrying capacity of trains, the Railway has decided to augment the train no.12249/12250 New Delhi- Howrah- New Delhi Yuva Express with one additional A.C. 3 Tier coachfrom 11.01.2014 when departing from Howrah and from 21.01.2014 when departing from New Delhi from both directions o­n permanent basis.

For the convenience of rail passengers, Railway has decided to introduce the train No. 19803/19804 Kota- Jammu Tawi- Kota Weekly Express as per the following programme :-

The 19803 Kota- Jammu Tawi Weekly Express train will depart from Kotaat 3.00 p.m. from 11.1.2014 o­n every Saturday to reach Jammu Tawi at 1.10 p.m. the next day. In the return direction, the 19804 Jammu Tawi- Kota Weekly Express train will depart from Jammu Tawi at 11.45 p.m. from 12.1.2014 o­n every Sunday to reach Kotaat 10.35 p.m. the next day.

With a view to avoiding rush in regular trains and to provide comfortable journey to the passengers, East Coast Railway has decided to increase the composition of Visakhapatnam-Amritsar Hirakud Express permanently with immediate effect.

18507/18508 Visakhapatnam-Amritsar-Visakhapatnam Hirakud Express via Bhubaneswar & Sambalpur will be augmented with o­ne AC 3 Tier Coach permanently with immediate effect from both the directions. Now the train will run with o­ne AC-2 tier coach, Two AC-3 tier Coaches, 10 Sleeper Class Coaches, Five General Second Class Coaches, Two Guard cum Luggage Vans and o­ne Pantry Car in it’s composition.

Similarly, 12807 Visakhapatnam-Nizamuddin-Visakhapatnam Samata Express via Rayagada & Titlagarh will also be augmented with o­ne AC 3 Tier Coach permanently with immediate effect from both the directions. Now the train will run with o­ne AC-2 tier coach, Two AC-3 tier Coaches, Nine Sleeper Class Coaches, Three General Second Class Coaches, Two Guard cum Luggage Vans and o­ne Pantry Car in it’s composition.

Twelve Sankranthi Special Trains between Kacheguda and Kakinada Town & Hyderabad and Kakinada Town


In order to clear extra rush of passengers during festival season, South Central Railway will run Twelve Sankranthi Special Trains between Kacheguda and Kakinada Town & Hyderabad and Kakinada Town as per the following schedule:-

1.Kacheguda - Kakinada Town – Kacheguda Sankranthi Special Train (via Guntur): (8 Services)

Train No. 07337 Kacheguda-Kakinada Town Special Train will depart Kacheguda at 23 30 hrs o­n 8th, 10th, 12th and 14th January, 2014 and arrive Kakinada Town at 10 15 hrs o­n the next day.

In the return direction, Train No.07338 Kakinada Town-Kacheguda Special train will depart Kakinada Town at 19 05 hrs o­n 9th, 11th, 13th and 15th January, 2014 and arrive Kacheguda at 06 45 hrs o­n the next day.

Enroute, these special trains will stop at Malkajgiri, Nalgonda, Miryalguda, Nadikudi, Guntur, Vijayawada, Eluru, Tadepalligudem, Rajahmundry, Dwarapudi and Samalkot
Stations in both directions. These trains will consist of 16 Coaches viz., o­ne AC II Tier, o­ne AC III Tier, eight Sleeper Class, four General Second Class and two Luggage Cum Brake Van Coaches.

2.Hyderabad – Kakinada Town - Hyderabad Sankranthi Special Train: (4 Services)

Train No. 07101 Hyderabad-Kakinada Town Special Train will depart Hyderabad at 23 10 hrs o­n 16h and 18th January, 2014 and arrive Kakinada Town at 10 00 hrs o­n the next day.

In the return direction, Train No.07102 Kakinada Town-Hyderabad Special train will depart Kakinada Town at 16 00 hrs o­n 17th and 19th January, 2014 and arrive Hyderabad at 04 05hrs o­n the next day.

Enroute, these special trains will stop at Secunderabad, Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Madhira, Vijayawada, Eluru, Tadepalligudem, Rajahmundry, Dwarapudi and Samalkot Stations in both directions. These trains will consist of 16 Coaches viz., o­ne AC II Tier, o­ne AC III Tier, eight Sleeper Class, four General Second Class and two Luggage Cum Brake Van Coaches.

Note: Advance reservation for these trains will open at 08 00 hrs o­n 4thJanuary, 2014.
