The reduction in fare was substantial-by up to 40%. However, four months later, the Delhi Metro is still struggling to up ridership on the line.
In July 2013, the Delhi Metro took over the operations of the high-speed showcase Metro corridor of the Delhi government after Reliance Infrastructure exited. Then, the ridership was 10,069.More than a year later, the ridership has risen to only 17,943 despite the introduction of a series of measures like slashing fare and increasing the frequency of trains.
